And your not paying for a course

On my coding journey I’ve found the only way to actually learn a new programming language is picking up a book.

Opening a text editor and writing code. Downloading data from a database and cleaning it.

Visualizing it, doing it.

I recently was about to purchase a course to learn SQL.

This course promised me I could break into tech in just a few months, and find a job in just a few more.

I was sold.

Then I kept on researching, and I’ve never been so greatful for my curiosity.

I want to grow, I want to learn, and that’s what lead me to make the decision not to purchase a course.

Courses are designed for people who learn through short form videos. They are for people who haven’t had to work extremely hard.

They are for people that haven’t dedicated years of their lives to a certain topic to become an expert.

These kinds of people have certifications not degrees. These people rely on getting their information solely from the internet.

I have never been one of those people.
